Te Tūranga | About the role

As an Arboricultural Risk Assessor/Urban Forrest Advisor you will risk assess tree assets throughout the city, lowering the risk to the public of incidents whilst ensuring the tree is in the best condition possible.

A core focus of the role is the coordination of condition assessments for approximately 40,000 - 80,000 tree assets making sure workflow for general area maintenance is effective and efficient.

The role will also protect, enhance and preserve the urban forest while providing senior specialist advice, direction and maintenance of the Cities tree assets, vegetation and protected trees. Together with providing technical input into the development of reserves and streetscapes and related policy and RMA matters.

Ngā Pukenga | What you'll need to succeed

To succeed in this role, you'll bring;

• Certificate in arboriculture
• Tree risk qualification, TRAQ, VALID or QTRA
• Experience in tree risk assessments
• Minimum of 10 years industry experience
• Conflict resolution and negotiation skills and an ability to remain calm under pressure
• Excellent communication skills, written and oral
• Knowledge of the RMA and the Reserves Act
• Experience in implementing restoration programmes
