Assistant Operations Manager / Viticulturist - Fast Hire

THE OPPORTUNITY

Vinewise Viticulture is a Vineyard Management company based in Cromwell, Central Otago, just 45 minutes from Queenstown and Wanaka. We focus on providing full vineyard management services to our clients, primarily for their organic vineyards. 

This is an opportunity for an experienced Viticulturist to manage multiple vineyards, develop your viticultural skills and join an experienced management team.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Reporting to the Operations Manager and working closely with the Managing Director, your responsibilities will cover all aspects of vineyard management for several vineyards including overall vine management, planning spray and irrigation programs, harvest organisation and setting work schedules for the vineyard team. 

You will manage a small team of supervisors and work with them to train, support and manage the vineyard staff in a safe and efficient way. You will be part of a small collaborative management team and work across the business as required.  

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

The following attributes and skills are required:

• A passion for growing a career in the viticultural industry and an enthusiasm to provide our clients with industry leading vineyard management services.
• Tertiary qualification in Viticulture (or similar field) preferred.
• Technically minded, comfortable with technology with a proven ability to learn new systems and programmes.
• Diligent, detail and quality oriented, with the ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
• Excellent communication and people skills, a sense of humour and a positive attitude.
• A commitment to your own and the team’s health & safety - everyone goes home safe.
• A full driver’s license.

REMUNERATION:

The appropriate remuneration will be commensurate with the skills and experience of the successful candidate.
