AVP, Corporate Accounting

Our Client is a Fortune, publicly traded life/annuity insurance carrier, providing financial protection to millions of people across the United States. The client is dedicated to helping their customers achieve their financial goals by offering a range of innovative products and services.

As the AVP, Corporate Accounting, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the Corporate Accounting team, overseeing the general ledger, financial reporting, and month-end close processes. You will ensure that all financial statements and disclosures are accurate, complete, and in compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the Corporate Accounting team, providing guidance and direction on accounting issues and complex transactions
• Oversee the general ledger and month-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all tasks
• Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and other accounting activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
• Prepare and review financial statements and disclosures, ensuring compliance with all reporting requirements
• Collaborate with other departments, including Actuarial, Investments, and Tax, to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial information
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure effective internal controls and compliance with company policies, GAAP, and regulatory requirements
• Provide guidance and support to the Vice President of Corporate Accounting on key accounting issues and initiatives
• Keep up-to-date with accounting standards, regulations, and industry developments, ensuring that the company remains compliant with all applicable requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification
• 7+ years of accounting experience, including public accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and regulatory requirements
• Experience managing a team of accounting professionals
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote work environment
• Willingness to work at a granular level, including reviewing and approving journal entries and account reconciliations

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and benefits package. The AVP, Corporate Accounting will have the opportunity to work remotely and will be eligible for promotion to Vice President.
