Are you a qualified Building Control Officer with current residential or commercial processing competency?

We know experienced building consent processors are in high demand, so we’re taking a flexible approach. If you’re interested in working with Tauranga City Council, we’d love to hear what kind of working arrangement would suit you.

Our Building Services team plays an important role in supporting Tauranga’s growth by helping make sure buildings across the city are safe, compliant, and fit for the people who live, work, and visit here.

Flexible options available

We’re open to talking with experienced candidates about a range of working arrangements, including:

• Permanent full-time opportunities – join the team in an ongoing role with hybrid working options

Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed

This campaign is for candidates who already hold current residential or commercial processing competency.

You’ll bring:

• current residential or commercial building consent processing competency


• a Regulation 18 qualification under the Building Regulations


• experience assessing building consent applications, plans, and supporting documentation


• strong knowledge of the Building Act, Building Code, and related regulations


• sound technical judgement and a practical, customer-focused approach


• confidence working independently and communicating clearly with customers, designers, and industry professionals
