Job Description - Business Development Consultant

About the role:
Reporting to the Direct Scaffolding Supplies manager based in Christchurch and working alongside the Central and South Island Business Development Consultants. This key role involves building new relationships, fostering existing ones, and growing sales within the region. You will uphold our reputation for excellent service, assist with daily logistics planning, and ensure timely delivery of orders.

About you:
You will have a proven “hunter and developer” sales mentality, be a self-starter who thrives on a challenge, enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. You will ideally have experience with scaffolding, propping and formwork, or be involved within the construction industry.

You consider yourself a passionate salesperson driven to seek out, develop and close opportunities. You understand the importance of internal communication and connectivity to ensure your customers get the best possible experience and result every time. You are well connected within the industry, hardworking, organised, have high attention to detail and a sense of humour!

Your role will include, but is not limited to:
• Extensive sales and business development in the construction sector, bring your industry-related knowledge, experience, and networks.
• Hunt and convert sales opportunities and new business, successfully growing our footprint in your region.
• Apply a structured sales process while identifying and converting growth opportunities.
• Implement and deliver regular sales cycles, self-sourcing leads, new business opportunities and existing customers.
We would love to talk to you if you have:
• Proven sales and business development experience, ideally within the construction or scaffold industry.
• Demonstrate a successful track record in an autonomous sales role, including planning and delivering new business and key account management.
• Have great communication skills: both written and verbal, with a proven ability to build and sustain relationships at all levels (internal and external).
• Customer-focused mindset with a proactive and positive work ethic – deliver on promises.
• Be a self-starter, decisive, motivated, adaptable, good time management and organised.
• Able to work autonomously without the need for direct supervision.
• Available to travel and work in different regions nationally from time to time.
• Be someone who acts with high honesty and integrity always.
• Have excellent computer skills: MS Office, Outlook and able to pick up systems quickly.
• Have and retain a clean and current driver’s licence.
• Professional with excellent personal presentation.
• Organised, self-reliant and adaptable
