The Opportunity:

As a Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in our mission by building strong relationships with Advisers and other financial services providers to ensure they receive the highest service. Identifying new opportunities for growth and ensuring Advisers are generating quality sales to achieve our AIA business targets.

You’ll be covering Gisborne, Napier, Hastings, and Palmerston North which means you’ll be spending a bit of time on the road and that a vehicle is included too.

We are open to you being based anywhere within the region either with a home-office or utilising our office space in Havelock North.

This is a permanent full-time role reporting to the Regional Manager, and it offers a unique opportunity to make a real impact on the health and wellbeing of New Zealanders. If you have a passion for health and wellness and a drive to make a difference, this could be the opportunity for you!

Key responsibilities include:

  • Being an AIA brand ambassador and influencer both internally and externally, to ensure the brand profile is elevated and key relationships strengthened

  • Being a wellbeing ambassador, embedding the AIA Vitality programme into the DNA of our business

  • Building strong relationships with your adviser panel to seek to understand their business drivers and strategic objectives and ensure they receive a superior level of service

  • Fostering relationships internally to ensure that service issues are addressed proactively

  • Assisting advisers in their planning processes and providing networking opportunities

  • On your feet thinking as well as strategic, tactical, creative thinking, opportunity identification, coaching, consulting, problem solving, negotiation, solutioning and being a centre of expertise.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • A commercial mindset with the ability to identify to identify and capitalise on business opportunities and drive growth

  • Superior relationship management experience, with a proven ability to develop deep relationships at all levels internally and externally

  • High level of understanding and proven success in coaching for increased performance

  • Great energy and an optimistic attitude with a strong drive for achieving results and smashing targets

  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate to find solutions that meet business needs

  • Presentation skills that influence the audience through engagement and confidence

  • Capacity to travel domestically and attend events outside of standard working hours

  • An understanding of the life insurance industry and AIA Vitality programme would be an advantage but is not essential.
