You will be responsible for originating and structuring complex, cross-border deals across a range of working capital solutions across existing key clients and new to bank relationships. Key responsibilities include originating new deals, leading deal teams and assisting in the structuring of bespoke open account solutions, while ensuring that strategies for increasing revenue and share of wallet are applied. Constructive input into the account planning process, and maintaining a strong rapport with clients, are key to achieving this.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the face of the bank, establishing new client relationships and strengthening relationships with existing clients, while identifying and generating new business leads through various channels, such as networking, existing portfolio reviews and prospecting.
  • Identifying potential new client opportunities in the local market and cross sell opportunities across other areas of the bank.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to deliver customer base growth, HSBC GTRF sales goals and revenues, while maximising the financial contribution of the assigned portfolio and business.
  • Developing a strong understanding of clients' businesses to provide tailored trade and supply chain strategies / solutions including receivables finance and asset-based lending.
  • Contributing to a culture of high-quality client service, by maintaining up to date knowledge of industry trends and innovations, building a reputation amongst clients as a provider of cutting-edge solutions to enhance their business, regularly communicating new products and solution propositions.
  • Consistently establishing positive client relationships to position HSBC as the key Trade & Receivables Finance provider for top end Global Banking & Markets and Commercial Banking clients.
  • Providing assistance to Relationship Managers in the preparation of Credit applications for prospective clients.

The role holder will have knowledge, skills and experience in the following areas:

  • Expertise as a sales / business development manager in Trade or Supply Chain finance with a clear understanding of balance sheet management, working capital cycles, credit and risk.
  • Experience in a corporate banking sales environment would be preferred with broad knowledge of banking systems and products and services including Foreign Exchange, Trade and Payments 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships interacting with business customers at an executive strategic level to understand the needs of their businesses.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, providing the confidence to effectively interact, influence and present at all levels both internally and externally, including with C-Suite executives.
  • Proven ability to deliver creative and flexible customer solutions, utilising strong analytical skills.
  • A relevant University degree /professional qualification would be an advantage but not essential.

Preference will be given to candidates who hold New Zealand PR / Citizenship or Australian Citizenship, or who can demonstrate current unrestricted work rights in New Zealand without limitations.
