Cafe Manager - Leading Industry Pay

Tarras Country Cafe are seeking a Cafe Manager.

Located in Tarras (30 minutes from Wanaka) we are a Rural café with gourmet country cuisine, cabinet food, a vast selection of delicious sweets and great coffee. We’re looking for a Cafe Mnager to lead our busy team.

We’re busy with locals, visitors and coach trips. You will be fully responsible for the daily Front of House operations, leading and motivating our team.

The Café is dedicated to quality and has a passion for local fresh produce.  From the freshly ground coffee and our friendly staff; to the seasonal menus and cabinet full of sweet treats; the menu is rustic, homely and focused on a philosophy of making things from scratch.

We are looking for an experienced Manager to be the face of the business and be ready to lead and develop our Front of House team to deliver exceptional service in a friendly and relaxed style. 

This is a highly accountable role, as such you must have a passion for people and our business.  You must be prepared to set a positive example and be a role model at all times to our energetic and passionate team.  You will share your passion and knowledge of the hospitality industry with our team.

General Duties: 

• Manage and be responsible for the day to day FOH operations of the Café
• Rostering and Recruitment
• Training new staff 
• Maintain labour cost targets and be fully conversant with current HR legislation
• Create a great working culture and boosting team confidence
• Ensure customer service is maintained at a high level
• Ensure health, safety and liquor licensing regulations are followed
• Take customer bookings and help serve food and drinks
• Ensure food is prepared and cooked to set company specifications
• Organise supply purchases, and keep stock records
• Imput on the menus with cooks or chefs from the customer and sales point of view
• Manage the marketing and promotions of the cafe
• organise food and beverage events, promotions and advertising.

The person for this role will:

• Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role 
• Must be able to work weekends
• We’re located in a rural location, must be able to commit to getting to work on time
• Be passionate about exceptional customer service and great coffee
• Be self motivated, directed and detail-oriented

This is a full-time role 30 hours a week guaranteed, ordinary hours are 40. The role requires weekend work as our Café operates Monday to Sunday with varying hours between 6:30am and 11:00pm.
