Hawkins Theatre is looking for an experienced Casual Technician to support the technical delivery of events on an ad hoc basis. Working alongside our Facility Manager, Theatre Coordinator, and Duty Managers, you’ll play a key role in ensuring every performance, community event, and client booking is delivered to a professional standard. This is an exciting hands on role for someone who thrives in the dynamic world of live events and enjoys working closely with a passionate venue team.

Your contribution is essential to creating safe, seamless, and memorable experiences for all performers, audiences, and clients who use Hawkins Theatre. You’ll ensure technical setups are completed to specification, troubleshoot on the fly, and uphold the highest levels of customer service. With every event you support, you’ll help maintain the theatre’s strong reputation as a trusted community venue known for excellence in sound, lighting, and venue presentation.


 


He kōrero mōu: About you



You’re a confident and capable technician with solid experience in theatre or live event environments. You bring:
•    Strong knowledge of sound and/or lighting practices, with the ability to design setups to client specifications
•    Proven experience running events as a Sound Operator and/or Lighting Operator
•    Clear and professional communication skills
•    Great time keeping, reliability, and a professional presentation
•    A collaborative approach and a commitment to safe working practices
•    The ability to adapt, problem solve, and deliver under pressure

This role closes on 4th March 2026. The starting salary is at $28.95/hour.

Auckland Council is committed to the protection and wellbeing of children.  This role is classified as a Children's Worker role under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014.
