Job Description - Category & Insights Manager


Location: Auckland
Type of Contract: Full-time, permanent

About the role


This is a key role within our Category Strategy team, focused on driving insights and category performance across the Traditional Liquor and On-Premises channels. You’ll act as the Channel Champion for these channels, and the Category Champion for International Premium, and RTD — working closely with Sales, Marketing, and customers to unlock growth opportunities.


 


What you’ll be doing


Insights & category management



  • Deliver actionable insights, reporting, and recommendations for Traditional and On-Premise channels

  • Use shopper and category data to support business decisions and customer conversations

  • Lead category insights across planning cycles, customer reviews, and product launches

  • Build strong internal knowledge of category and shopper behaviour


 


Channel strategy



  • Support development of long-term channel strategies and annual plans

  • Translate commercial and customer insights into clear, practical plans

  • Present and align plans with key customers and track performance


 


Customer & stakeholder partnering



  • Lead category conversations with key customers to drive growth opportunities

  • Deliver category reviews and recommendations across range, pricing, promotions, and space

  • Work closely with internal teams to align category strategy with business priorities


 


Category champion



  • Partner with Brand and Trade Marketing teams to deliver key initiatives

  • Lead category input into new product launches and trade presentations

  • Provide clear recommendations on volume, distribution, pricing, and performance

  • Proactively identify and solve performance gaps across brands and customers


 


What you’ll bring



  • 5+ years’ experience in category, sales, or marketing (FMCG preferred)

  • Strong analytical skills and confidence working with data

  • Ability to influence stakeholders and build strong relationships

  • Clear communication and presentation skills

  • Experience using scan data tools (e.g. Aztec / Nielsen)

  • Exposure shopper data such as Quantium (nice to have)

  • Strong Excel capability
