Job Description - Catering Retail Manager

Bay Venues …. Haven’t heard of us? Not to worry; I bet you have heard of some of the venues we own or operate – the iconic Mount Hot Pools, Baywave, or Mercury Baypark to name a few. In this role, you’ll:
●    Take ownership of multiple café sites, driving operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
●    Collaborate with catering and events teams to design strategies and achieve revenue targets.
●    Lead, inspire, and train high-performing teams, fostering a culture of excellence.
●    Develop and open new hospitality venues, contributing to Tauranga’s vibrant community.
●    Manage Point-of-Sale (POS) and inventory systems to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and actionable insights.
●    Work alongside the Executive chef to deliver high-quality, convenient food and beverage offerings in line with customer expectations.
●    Maintain compliance with food safety, health, and safety regulations across all venues.



What you’ll bring to the role:


Experience:
At least 5 years of management experience in hospitality and/or retail operations, ideally in café environments and multi-site management.
●    Experience in developing retail strategies to achieve revenue goals.


Skills:
●    Strong leadership skills, with a proven ability to recruit, train, and inspire high-performing teams.
●    Solid financial management skills, including budgeting, cost control, and revenue tracking.
●    Hands-on expertise with Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, including setup, troubleshooting, and reporting. Knowledge of Task would be ideal.
●    Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.


Barista Background:
●    Hands-on experience in coffee preparation and beverage service standards is highly desirable but not required.


Passion:
●    Deep commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences and a passion for community-focused work.
●    An interest in food and beverage trends.


Compliance:
●    Knowledge of food safety regulations and health and safety standards.
