Habitat for Humanity  is a well respected international registered charity providing a wide range of home construction, repair, renovation and advocacy programmes aimed at building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. We work in partnership with people in genuine housing and social need to eliminate poverty housing across the region. 

Our ReStore Charity Shops in Auckland and Northland regions provide much needed funds for our mission with help from our team of dedicated volunteers and wonderful staff.

The Role

We are seeking a reliable retail assistant/ supervisor for our new ReStore Charity Shop in Stanmore Bay to support our manager working full time, 5 days per week including one weekend day. It is essential that the ReStore runs smoothly with focus on sales and excellent customer service.

This role would suit someone who has great communication skills, has experience as a retail supervisor, is responsible and has a passion for preloved household items, clothes, books, etc.

Hours:  Full time - 8:45am - 5:15pm, 5 days per week including a regular Sunday 

(Likely roster would be Sun to Thu with Fri and Sat off)

Duties include:

• Using POS and cash up
• Support the manager with duties
• Open and close the store when manager is not present
• Provide excellent customer service
• To sell and process sales through the till
• Maximise sales
• Assist with merchandising
• Handle customer enquiries
• Follow procedures and protocols as set by the organisation
• Help train and support volunteers 
• Role model and uphold the values of Habitat for Humanity

Skills and requirements:

• Preferably have at least 3 years retail experience
• Preferable have experience as a retail supervisor or second in charge (2IC)
• Must be reliable and responsible
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Have a positive can do attitude
• Have a good level of fitness to be able to assist with moving furniture and items around the store. 
• Good computer skills
• Remains calm under pressure
• Self-motivated and have initiative
• Have a genuine interest and knowledge of a range of pre loved items
• Merchandising experience or an eye for design would be preferred
• Be committed to the Habitat mission and values
• A genuine desire to help and assist within a charitable organisation
