About The Role:
Nelson Airport is a key strategic asset and contributor to the prosperity and growth of the Nelson Tasman economy, its commercial operations and services deliver significant benefits to the region. Reporting to the Board Chair, this strategic commercial role leads a dedicated and committed team of thirty people. Key areas of focus include to:
• Ensure strong financial performance, invest in commercial opportunities & diversify revenue streams;
• Lead multiple capital and operational projects with inherent complexity;
• Meet obligations under Civil Aviation Rules, ensuring a safe airport with a strong safety culture;
• Define the infrastructure & property strategy, leading a fit-for-purpose Asset Management Programme
• Deliver excellent customer service, building strong relationships with airlines, shareholders, local communities, Iwi & hapu;
• Focus on sustainability & implementation of climate disclosure reporting.
Skills & Experience:
Ideal candidates will have airport/aviation experience (or adjacent industry) with a proven track record working in a senior leadership capacity within a fast-paced, multi-faceted operational environment, delivering exceptional customer experience and enhancing commercial performance. You will be a natural people leader, trusted and collegial and will be:
• strategically and commercially astute, with strong financial acumen, a growth thinker, with success in growing revenue;
• experienced with capital projects & strategically leading quality infrastructural assets and property;
• able to point to a strong track record of safety performance;
• pragmatic, engaging, authentic, accountable, with high integrity;
• engaging and influencing, high level of relationship development, connectivity and advocacy skills working across multiple stakeholder groups in a strategic and operational capacity.
The passion and ability to continually raise the bar in relation to customer experience and reputation is essential, as is the ability to recognise and implement new commercial initiatives and lead change. Ideally you will be curious and ambitious, and your personal values & ethos will reflect NAL’s purpose and culture.
