Chief People Officer - Napier City Council

This all-encompassing senior leadership role has a wide remit that straddles strategy, operations and transformation in a large-scale and complex environment. If you are an experienced senior HR leader, a natural people connector, and passionate about driving a culture of service delivery and continuous improvement, then this will be a very rewarding role for you.   As CPO, you will ensure the provision of optimal people, capability and engagement structures and approaches.  Building responsive, strong and enduring relationships is the key to success here. 

Napier City Council is a substantive Hawkes Bay organisation, that employs a hugely capable, technical and varied workforce of over 700 employees across the region.  They need an agile and future focused chief people officer to help the organisation thrive now and well into the future. Your core purpose will be to build a clear and determined people and capability strategy, and to shape and inform services across the full HR remit of HR business partnering, wellbeing, ER/IR, talent acquisition and retention, remuneration and rewards, and health and safety.  You will be optimising and steering a team to ensure best practice, trusted and strategic HR and people leadership advice, guidance and coaching.  This role is a key enabler and influencer to the executive team. 

To be successful, you must be sitting at a senior HR leader level and have led sizeable teams in organisations of a similar scope and scale.  You will hold relevant tertiary qualifications, have demonstrated success in handling IR/ER related issues, and bring an especially strong bent towards driving people engagement and performance through relationships, processes, systems and structures.
