Child Immunisation Improvement Nurse

Te whiwhinga mahi: The opportunity 

We have an exciting new opportunity for a fixed-term Child Immunisation Improvement Nurse in our Tairāwhiti team.

Our new Immunisation team aims to improve immunisation coverage and ensure the families in the Tairāwhiti region have access to services to empower them to make informed decisions regarding immunisation. A key objective of our service is to improve immunisation coverage for Māori and Pacific children, and other priority groups with high rates of vaccine preventable disease and low immunisation rates.

We are looking for a skilled registered nurse to join our Immunisation Team. In this role you will be part of the team’s clinical resource, working alongside supportive administrative colleagues. You will provide robust clinical knowledge, provide a link between families and general practice and contribute to the delivery of an important health service, through the provision of childhood vaccinations.

This role will get you out and about in the community, working closely with tamariki and their whānau, and other primary healthcare providers. 

We’re looking for someone who enjoys engaging with people, building positive relationships, and reducing health inequity for our Māori and Pacific children.

This role is fixed-term until 2027.

He kōrero mōu: About you

• Registered with Nursing Council of New Zealand with evidence of competency to practice.


• Minimum 2 year's experience post nursing registration experience.


• Authorised vaccinator.


• Current full drivers’ license


• Experience working in a health setting with Tamariki and their whānau.
  


• Experience in the provision of childhood immunisations.
  


• Mentoring and facilitation experience (preferred).
  


• Experience in continuous service improvement and development.
  


• Experience using practice management systems.
  


• Proficient with Office 365 products and using video conferencing (e.g. Microsoft Teams, Zoom).


• A commitment to continuous improvement of clinical systems.


• Understanding of child health issues and importance of advocacy and confidentiality.


• Analytical skills, problem-solving skills and competent level of clinical skills.
