South Wairarapa District Council (SWDC) is a small council supporting the people of Martinborough, Featherston, Greytown and the surrounding district.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Development Engineer to become part of a Roading team and ensure the quality of the South Wairarapa and Carterton Districts land and roading development is appropriate and sustainable for the future.
The Roading Team plays a vital role in helping manage significant growth and asset management in a way that delivers high quality and professional services for roading, residential, commercial and industrial projects across the district.
Your key duties will be ensuring infrastructure meets Council standards and is appropriately designed to ensure a long lifespan; earthworks and hazards are appropriately assessed and potential adverse effects and associated risks mitigated, best engineering practice and mitigate risk to Council and the community arising from land development engineering related matters; providing technical engineering support in matters relating to resource consent land use and subdivision proposals, and providing technical engineering support in assessing road engineering detailed designs against Standards, best industry standards and assessing specifics of proposed land development works.
