Civil Litigation Solicitor / Senior Solicitor (1–5 Years' PQE)

We're growing our Civil Litigation team at Tompkins Wake and are looking for a Solicitor or Senior Solicitor to join us in Hamilton or Auckland, with flexible and hybrid working options available.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to build your litigation career while working alongside experienced Partners and Special Counsel on a broad range of civil disputes.  Our team advises public and private sector clients on significant and often complex matters across New Zealand. From day one, you'll be involved in quality work with the support, mentoring, and guidance needed to continue developing your technical skills and confidence. 
Whether you've recently established yourself in litigation or are looking to broaden your experience, you'll have the opportunity to work on challenging matters while taking increasing responsibility as your career progresses.

Your work will include:

• Civil litigation


• Drafting pleadings, affidavits and submissions


• Assisting with strategic advice across a range of disputes


• Court appearances (commensurate with your experience)


• Working closely with Partners and senior lawyers on complex matters


• Collaborating with colleagues across the firm


• Building trusted client relationships

About You

You'll bring:

• 1–5 years' PQE in civil litigation


• Strong written and verbal communication skills


• Sound analytical ability and developing commercial judgement


• Experience supporting or managing litigation matters


• A proactive, collaborative approach and genuine enthusiasm to learn


• High attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality outcomes

Experience in any of the following areas would be an advantage, but is not essential:

• Construction litigation


• Competition law


• Intellectual Property (IP)
