Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

This is a unique and exciting senior lending opportunity, for someone with proven commercial property experience. You’ll be a trusted advisor to our Property Finance Clients, across varied projects, maximising financial and business performance outcomes, while ensuring risk, compliance, and regulatory framework.

What are the key day-to-day tasks the person in this role will complete?

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of client groups with a focus on quality asset growth, balance sheet optimisation, deposit growth, ancillary revenue and accretive portfolio returns.

  • Maintain a strong network of market advocates who focus on property market operations, to develop advocacy for referrals and to source market specific knowledge.

  • Embed an operating rhythm that prioritises time in market with clients, prospects, professionals and intermediaries.

  • Maintain a clear prospecting strategy, supported by a strong market presence and a well-articulated client value proposition.

  • Lead and facilitate high quality credit applications and submission that demonstrate prudent risk management.

  • Originate and execute quality property investment, development, residual stock, land, social housing and green transaction opportunities.

  • Demonstrate wider leadership and contribute to the high-performing culture through the presentation of training sessions, sharing insights, and coaching of colleagues.

What attributes will this person have in order to be successful?

This role requires proven technical property knowledge, as well as the ability to successfully balance the client / risk relationship. You’ll demonstrate previous experience managing complex commercial property relationships, and success in developing new business relationships in market. You will bring:

  • Strong understanding of commercial property investment, development, residual stock, land and related transaction structures.

  • Proven ability to develop professional networks and use market presence to create high quality client and prospect opportunities.

  • Sound commercial judgement, negotiation capability, planning discipline and outcome orientation.

  • Strong client relationship management capability and communication skills – Building trusted relationships, including the ability to oversee clear and well-structured credit submissions.

  • Commitment to strong risk culture, portfolio maintenance, compliance and client conduct outcomes.

What is the most exciting thing about this opportunity?

One of our most unique roles in the Property Finance Team as whilst you are based in Queenstown, a good portion of your client base also sits within the wider Otago Region so there will be regular travel, and a company vehicle will be provided.

These roles tend to be a pathway into people leadership for those that are interested in that pathway.

What is the team culture and environment like?

We are a small tight knit team, who work closely together and enjoy turning up. It’s a very autonomous work environment where you are encouraged to make your own decisions but know that you have a very supportive leader in the background ready to assist at any time.
