Clinical Systems Specialist


Location: Dunedin or Invercargill


FTE: 1



Do you want to help make funded health programmes easier to deliver through better clinical systems? WellSouth is seeking a Clinical Systems Specialist to work alongside clinical teams to translate programme needs into practical system solutions that support general practice across Otago and Southland.

Position Purpose:


The Clinical Systems Specialist is responsible for overseeing the configuration, implementation, and continuous improvement of clinical systems that support WellSouth’s clinical programmes. This role ensures that clinical systems, including business rules and claiming portals, are designed to meet WellSouth and our contracted providers' needs.


 


The Clinical Systems Specialist collaborates closely with the Assurance and Performance Lead, Programme Owners/Clinical teams, Data and Digital, and others to deliver high-quality, effective clinical programmes’ systems that align to contracted agreements and services.


 


What are we looking for:


Skills



  • Experience configuring or supporting clinical or digital health systems.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

  • Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects or tasks simultaneously, from initiation to completion.

  • A proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving and decision-making, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the organisation.


 


About you - To be successful in this role you will:



  • Bring 2-3 years’ experience in a similar position.

  • Hold an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Business Analysis, Data Science or post graduate qualifications in information systems, business analysis.

  • Have strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to translate clinical needs into practical system functionality.

  • Be comfortable engaging with a wide range of stakeholders- including clinical, operational and technical teams- to support effective system changes.

  • Be familiar with the healthcare environment and a genuine interest in supporting better patient outcomes through better systems.
