Cancer Trials New Zealand (CTNZ) is part of the Department of Oncology in the Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences, a comprehensive health and medical faculty offering a range of professional programmes and hosting a number of research centres.
Our focus is to improve outcomes and reduce inequity for people with cancer in Aotearoa New Zealand through fostering and conducting research. We believe clinical trials are essential to delivering this mahi and goals.
Mō tō mātou rōpū | About the team
The CTNZ team consists of Trial/Study Managers, Data Managers, Monitors, Statisticians and Clinicians, with senior leadership led by the Director, Professor Nicky Lawrence. The team works very collaboratively with clinicians, healthcare workers, scientists and consumers, both within the University and externally. With strong communication and a shared positive ‘can-do’ attitude, the team works closely towards common goals.
The role reports to the Director of CTNZ. You will be working alongside the CTNZ team and with site research teams from a number of hospitals around Aotearoa New Zealand.
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
We are seeking a Clinical Trials Manager to take responsibility for the development and operational management of one or more clinical trials within Cancer Trials New Zealand. Your duties will be varied but will centre around trial management, site monitoring and the business-as-usual operations and administration tasks needed to keep our research pushing forward.

He kōrero mōu | About you
To be considered for this role you will have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant area and 3 years of experience in a clinical trials environment. You will need to demonstrate experience of developing new trials and the writing and maintenance of clinical trial documents (Protocol, PIS/CF, SOPs etc). You will thrive in this role if you have strong time management processes and experience of meeting deadlines whilst juggling multiple priorities.

You will stand out when applying if you have 3 or more years of clinical trials experience in oncology (in one or more of the following areas of cancer research - Medical Oncology; Radiation Oncology; Haematological Oncology; Immunotherapy; Phase I studies; Palliative Care). It will also be beneficial if you have experience in the New Zealand clinical research environment. We’re very interested in understanding your management experience, including staff and budget management.
