Cloud Security Consultant

About us

Bastion is the recently formed group of ZX Security, Quantum Security, Helix Security and Cassini. We offer a wide range of cyber security consulting services to a large proportion of New Zealand and international businesses. The work we do helps secure critical infrastructure, banks, telcos, the energy sector and technology companies. 

The role

This is a fast-paced and varied role. You’ll be working closely with an exciting range of clients across New Zealand, from small kiwi-owned businesses to well-known public sector organisations. 

You’ll be involved in reviewing the cloud configuration for a range of companies with a goal of advising them on how to improve their cloud security posture. You will also provide consultancy on SaaS applications in relation to developing security policies, procedures and best practices.

What we’re looking for

These are the main skills we’re looking for, and a role with Bastion might be a good fit for you if you have some of these. Don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes; for the right candidates, we’ll provide training and on-the-job learning in a supportive team environment:

• Cloud Security Fundamentals: A high level of knowledge of cloud security toolsets and cloud native technologies from both a practical and theoretical perspective.
• Cloud Security Fundamentals: you have a strong understanding of the challenges and solutions to cloud specific security issues.  You can assess risk and conduct a gap analysis to provide clients with recommendations for improvement.
• Cybersecurity knowledge: you have a passion for cybersecurity, and you’re able to explain security fundamentals. You’re familiar with Cloud risks and suitable controls, and you might hold one or more security certifications.
• Critical thinking skills: you’re good at analysing information, asking questions, and solving problems.
• Service delivery skills: you manage your time effectively, you can take ownership of projects or tasks to deliver work on time, and you take the initiative to get stuff done.
• Communication skills: you can effectively communicate your knowledge to a range of people, whether that’s giving a presentation, talking on the phone, or writing a report or email.
• Sales and people management: Not all our consultants take on sales or people management responsibilities, but if you have an interest in these areas, we can help you to develop your skills.
