Job Description - Coach Onboarding Manager

About the role



Christians Against Poverty (CAP) is entering a new season of change, and we’re looking for an experienced Coach Onboarding Manager to join our newly refreshed services.



As the Coach Onboarding Manager, you’ll play a key role in strengthening communities by equipping churches and partner organisations to recruit and engage volunteers effectively. You’ll ensure volunteers are confident, compassionate, and well-prepared to serve clients, fostering meaningful impact through mobilisation and support. This role is all about empowering others to make a difference—building capacity, connection, and care where it matters most.



Key areas of responsibility include:




  • Equip churches and organisations to recruit volunteers

  • Prepare volunteers with training and knowledge of CAP’s values and processes

  • Collaborate and build strong relationships with internal and external teams

  • Liaise with churches to ensure alignment between volunteer expectations and community

  • Celebrate and communicate volunteer impact, recognising milestones and achievements to inspire, motivate and champion ongoing volunteer engagement

You’ll also bring relevant experience for the role:




  • 2+ years proven experience in a similar role

  • 2+ years proven experience working in client-centred service delivery and/or with community-based social issues

  • Build and implement volunteer recruitment strategies that equip churches and organisations with effective processes to attract and engage committed volunteers

  • Ensure volunteers are fully prepared to be CAP representatives in their community, to deliver quality service and to be empowered to engage with clients

  • Build effective relationships to enable better outcomes for CAP Representatives as they support client journeys

  • Cultural competence and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, with the ability to work safely and sensitively with people from diverse backgrounds and champion inclusive practices.

  • Emotional intelligence and professional maturity, balancing empathy, compassion, and best practice—especially when working with vulnerable people and navigating complex challenges.
