Job Description - Commercial Manager - Southland and Otago



ADAMA New Zealand is inviting applications for a passionate and energetic Commercial Manager for Southland and Otago. We’re looking for someone passionate about working alongside growers and our retail partners across Southland and Otago.


 


This role is all about supporting farmers and orchardists — from arable systems through to horticulture. Experience across both would be fantastic, but it’s not essential. What matters most is curiosity, a willingness to learn, and a genuine interest in helping customers succeed. You’ll be backed by a strong technical and commercial support team, so you’re never on your own when it comes to solutions.

Position Title: Commercial Manager - Southland & Otago


Division: Commercial Team


Location: New Zealand


Reporting: National Sales Manager


Formal Education: Agriculture/Horticulture or another related field.


Work Experience: Experience in commercial roles within the Ag-chem industry. Possession of strong local networks is desirable.


 


Internal Customers: Customer Service, Supply Chain, Finance, Marketing, Technical & Development, Regulatory Affairs


External Customers: Distributors, industry bodies, farmers, key influencers in farming, and academic and research bodies.


 


What you’ll be doing



  • Working closely with growers, farmers, and retail partners across Southland & Otago

  • Building long-term, trusted relationships

  • Providing practical, on-farm and in-orchard support

  • Supporting the introduction of new and emerging solutions

  • Managing your own territory and workload with confidence.


 


What we’re looking for



  • A genuine passion for agriculture and horticulture

  • Comfortable working independently and managing your own time

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Practical, solution-focused mindset

  • Experience in arable or horticulture is a bonus — not essential
