The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for someone coming from a Finance or Commercial Manager background to join an exciting and dynamic joint venture.

This organisation operates in the construction industry, so relevant experience in construction or infrastructure/utilities is required for this role.

An understanding on business operations at a grass-roots level and end-to-end procurement practices, bid management and contract management is also required.


The Role

In this role you will be responsible for but not exclusively limited to the following:
  • Confidently dealt with all levels of management (including the Board) and establish and maintain positive relationships with partners.
  • Lead and develop commercial plans including budgeting and forecasting for the short, medium and long term.
  • Co-lead the supply chain and procurement model.
  • Manage the financial planning calendar and implement appropriate review processes.
  • Lead and continuously improve data, information, quality and performance.
  • Analyse performance, including progress against TOC (financial and non-financial) etc.
  • Manage budgets, expenses, pricing and commercial arrangements.
  • Manage and report on the risks identified (risk assessment table) at TOC Development. Assess risks involved with new initiatives.
  • Take a lead role in advising around pricing of variations, seeking appropriate approvals and reporting on delivery.
  • Drive efficiency to ensure contracts remain financially viable and delivers on budget.
  • Drive financial performance and value for money decisions.
  • Support the ALT by conducting analysis of commercial opportunities.
  • Resolve contractual and commercial difficulties.
  • Ensure that all stakeholders understand and adhere to contractual commercial obligations.
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts and agreements to protect the interest of the organisation.
  • Formulate reports concerning such areas as work progress, costs, programme and quality.
  • Ensure deadlines are met and be ready to handle unexpected situations.
  • Provide technical support, training and assist in other areas and the wider industry, where appropriate
  • Manage 6 staff members offering support, guidance and mentorship.
What you need

To be successful in this role you need to have demonstrated:
  • 5 + years’ experience in a commercial, performance, and business support manager role (or similar)
  • Experience in infrastructure and/or construction projects
  • Extensive staff management over 5+ years
  • Exemplary financial management skills
  • Contract and contractor management
  • End-to-end understanding and working knowledge of the procurement function, specifically bid management and contract management
  • Sound understanding of commercial data; ability to offer analysis, interpretation and decision advice
  • Business operations experience
  • Proven ability to write sound Board reports and presentations
  • Strong, practical problem solving skills with a commercial focus
  • Excellent relationship and influencing skills to solicit buy-in from a wide range of stakeholders
  • Ability to contribute to the strategic direction of the SLT
  • Outstanding leadership and organisational skills
  • Strong risk management skills
  • Strong collaboration skills and bringing together a cohesive team to gain positive outcomes.
  • Excellent knowledge of performance evaluation and change management principles
  • Experience delivering projects with a high level of public visibility and interest.
Experience operating under an Alliance/Joint Venture model is highly desirable!
