Commercial Solar Project Manager

The Role

Lead the delivery of complex commercial solar install projects across New Zealand

Fisher & Paykel Home Solutions is expanding its Commercial & Industrial (C&I) solar capability and is seeking an experienced Commercial Solar Project Manager to lead the end‑to‑end delivery of large‑scale solar installations.  With a strong pipeline of projects, this is a high‑impact role combining hands‑on technical leadership with commercial project management.

About the opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Solar – Home Solutions, you will be responsible for managing our C&I solar projects from design and inception through to commissioning and handover. Acting as the single point of technical accountability, you will work closely with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the planning and execution of multiple concurrent C&I solar projects
• Develop detailed project plans covering scope, resources, budget, and timelines
• Maintain active field presence, conducting site inspections and quality audits
• Provide technical leadership across design, installation, commissioning, and post‑installation support
• Coordinate contractors and suppliers to ensure delivery to agreed standards and KPIs
• Drive project performance through consistent reporting, risk management, and weekly delivery cadence
• Ensure compliance with all health & safety, electrical, environmental, and regulatory requirements
• Build strong working relationships with our commercial partners and customers
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with design, sales, installation, and product teams to deliver excellent customer outcomes.

About you

You are a proactive and technically strong project manager and leader who thrives in complex, field‑based environments. You balance attention to detail with commercial judgement and are comfortable making decisions, challenging constructively, and driving delivery.

Our ideal applicant brings

• 5+ years’ experience overseeing and installing commercial solar systems
• Demonstrated experience with MV/HV systems and BESS
• Strong understanding of New Zealand C&I solar installation standards, safety, and compliance
• Proven ability to manage external contractors and deliver projects to plan
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills
• A hands‑on, ownership mindset with strong prioritisation and accountability.

You must have

• Relevant and current Electrical Licence and solar endorsements
• Current and clean driver licence and ability to travel
• Electrical Inspector’s Certificate (preferred).
• Construction industry Site Safe certification (preferred)
