About the role | Mō te tūranga mahi

We have two Commercial Specialist opportunities available within ACC. This role sits at the intersection of commercial strategy, commissioning, market analysis, health funding and market stewardship. Working closely with commissioning teams, you will provide strategic commercial advice, assess market dynamics, supplier behaviour and performance variation, and develop commercial strategies that influence provider markets and improve outcomes. You will help shape ACC’s approach to pricing strategy, funding strategy, market design and commercial decision making, supporting value for money, sustainability and service quality. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to strategic initiatives that influence how ACC shapes health markets, commissioning approaches and provider behaviour to deliver sustainable, high-quality outcomes for New Zealanders.

The appointing salary for this role is $126,101 - $152,430 based on experience. ACC offers a comprehensive benefits package which at present includes an advantageous superannuation scheme (9% contribution) with features like no mandatory employee contribution, optional life and income protection insurance.

About you | Mōu

You will bring:

  • Strong commercial judgement with experience in commercial strategy, commercial advisory, market strategy, funding strategy or strategic procurement.
  • The ability to analyse market dynamics, supplier behaviour, commercial incentives and performance information to develop practical recommendations and commercial positions.
  • Experience operating in complex stakeholder environments where decisions require balancing value, quality, access, sustainability and risk.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build credibility across multidisciplinary teams and senior leaders.
  • Experience developing evidence-based advice, commercial insights, business cases or strategic recommendations for decision-makers.
  • Confidence working with pricing, funding, financial or market analysis information and translating it into clear, actionable advice.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to prepare concise papers, briefings and recommendations for senior audiences.
  • A curious, pragmatic and strategic mindset, with the ability to operate effectively in ambiguity and exercise sound judgement.
  • Experience in commissioning, commercial strategy, strategic procurement, regulated markets, infrastructure, insurance, banking, utilities, consulting, investment advisory, supplier strategy or health funding environments would be highly regarded.
  • You must hold New Zealand work rights at the time of application.
