Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role

 


We are currently seeking a Commissioning Senior Advisor to join our Investment & Commissioning team in Wellington. The role requires strong commissioning capability, comfort with ambiguity, excellent relationship skills, and alignment with our organisational values.


 


As a Commissioning Senior Advisor, you’ll:


 



  • Support the commissioning process for the Social Investment Fund including the procurement of initiatives.

  • Build strong, values-aligned relationships with communities, providers, iwi and Māori partners.

  • Support effective negotiation with social sector organisations, government agencies, and other key stakeholders

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of commissioning systems and processes, including supporting the development of outcomes-based agreements.

We’re looking for someone to join a high-performing team made up of diverse backgrounds and skillsets who challenge and support each other to bring their best to work. You will have:


 



  • Ability to work with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong relationship management and collaboration skills

  • Values-driven and relationship-focused approach

  • Experience engaging with providers, iwi, and Māori organisations

  • Confidence managing relational contracts and supporting provider performance

  • Strong project management and delivery skills

  • Experience of evaluation, mixed-method expertise desirable

  • Strong understanding of te Tiriti o Waitangi, and an ability to integrate Te Ao Māori and mātauranga Māori concepts into commissioning practice.

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).

Utu ā-tau | Salary

 


The salary range for this role $106,760 min to $150,720 max. Starting salaries reflect skills and experience relevant to the role with offers generally made between $106,760 min - $125,600 midpoint.

The Social Investment Agency is a central agency, set up to lead the social investment approach to improve people’s lives and to support the Government to achieve better outcomes from social service expenditure. Social investment involves using data to understand people’s needs and the best prevention points, implementing evidence-based approaches to improving outcomes, and testing that they’ve been successful. The Agency has a particular focus on cross-sector work to address the most pervasive social sector challenges.
