Job Description Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity An opportunity exists in our Science Communications and Marketing team for a self-motivated Communications and Marketing Adviser within one of our cross-faculty research centres, Nga Ara Whetu. This position plays an important role for the Centre to build their profile across a range of platforms to reach multiple audiences. We're looking for an individual with a passion for communication, who can combine technical skills with exceptional written English. Core responsibilities for the role include: Writing, editing and curate high-quality print, digital and multimedia content for internal and external channels. Writing and publishing user-centric web content via our content management system, WordPress. Highlighting Nga Ara Whetu's work through social media, collecting data on social media interactions and reporting them back to management. Develop and manage email and other campaigns on and off campus to elevate the mission of the research centre. Drafting and proofing Nga Ara Whetu communications. Co-authoring article writing for publication in traditional media. Co-authoring submissions and reports to government agencies or ministries. Helping to produce live events, broadcast/podcast series and effectively promoting these. Monitor news as relevant to the mission of the research centre. Connect with Nga Ara Whetu's directors to create content that adds to the public discourse and provide subject matter expertise to influence content decisions. This is a part-time 0.5 FTE (18.75 hours per week) fixed-term position until the end of December 2024. For more detailed information, please refer to the Position Description. The Marketing and Communications team is made up of three content writers and coordinators, a marketing adviser and marketing coordinator. This role is aligned closely with the Faculty's Marketing and Communication team for guidance and reports to the Directors of Nga Ara Whetu for day-to-day operations and direction. He korero mou | About you An excellent organiser with attention to detail and great communication skills The ideal candidates will have: A bachelor's degree with strong writing experience. Experience working with web content management systems, including WebPress. Experience in a diverse range of marketing and advertising activities across print, the web and digital media. Experience with web analytics tools and SEO. Experience working within complex environments. Adept at prioritising the requirements of a large number of stakeholders Be committed to excellent quality and have a sharp eye for detail. Be a team player with strong relationship skills who enjoys working with others in a collaborative environment. Have tons of initiative and be able to bring creativity and new ideas to the role. Be highly motivated, self-managing and exceptionally well organised. You will have strong planning and co-ordination skills and be able to juggle multiple priorities.
