Location: Manawatu

Service: Regional Forensic Psychiatric Services

Contract: Permanent, Full time

Salary: $66,570- $95,340 PSA - based on experience 

Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team

The regional arm of Te Korowai-Whāriki includes the Central Regional Forensic Mental Health Service which operates at the interface between Mental Health Services and the Justice System and works within the following settings – prisons, courts, community, and inpatient. The Service offers assessment and rehabilitation services to Defendants charges with criminal offences and Offenders who have psychiatric illness.

Moū – About you

Our registered nurses provide liaison and consultation to and between Youth Courts, Prisons, Youth Justice Departments, Child Youth and Family, Mental Health, Police, Government and Community Agencies on mental health and addiction matters and the management of associated problems within the identified agency. They utilises clinical and medical-legal knowledge and skills to provide a quality rapid assessment of those persons identified as having or who may have a mental health and addiction problem.

  Skills & Experience

  • Knowledgeand understanding of the relevant legislation, standards and guidelines
  • Registration withthe Nursing Council of New Zealand as a Registered Nurse
  • Activeinvolvement and progression along the PDRP and by Expert RN level, a postgraduate qualification or working towards this or equivalent learning
  • Process goodorganisation skills and effective time management
