Complex Claims Advisor

At Suncorp New Zealand, we're committed to helping our customers recover when the unexpected happens. We're looking for an experienced Claims Advisor to join our Claims team and take ownership of large, complex, and high-value claims, delivering fair outcomes for customers while balancing commercial and risk considerations.

This is a senior technical role where you'll manage a diverse portfolio of complex commercial claims, with a strong proportion of public liability claims. You'll also play a key role in resolving escalated matters, complaints, and claims that progress through formal dispute resolution channels. Your expertise, sound judgement, and negotiation skills will be critical in achieving the right outcomes for customers and the business.

Beyond your own portfolio, you'll act as a trusted technical advisor and mentor, supporting colleagues across Claims and helping build capability within the team.

What you'll bring:

• 5+ years’ experience managing major loss and complex claims.
• Strong expertise in commercial claims, including public liability claims.
• Exceptional negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• A proven ability to analyse complex situations, solve problems, and make sound decisions.
• Experience managing escalated or disputed claims and engaging with formal dispute resolution processes.
• Coaching or leadership experience, with a passion for developing others.

A tertiary qualification in a relevant business discipline is desirable but not essential.
