Te Tari Pūreke – Firearms Safety Authority is New Zealand’s Firearms Regulator. Our Vision is to ensure the possession and use of firearms in Aotearoa is the safest in the world.


To achieve this, Te Tari Pūreke delivers four core functions: effectively implementing the firearms licensing systems; managing the Firearms Registry; educating people to enable compliance with their legislative responsibilities; and promoting the safe possession and lawful use of firearms.


We are committed to fostering a culture of safe and responsible firearms use, gun ownership and awareness by working collaboratively with the firearms community, our stakeholders, and fellow agencies.


 


 


 


About the role


The Compliance & Resolutions Officer is an integral role in ensuring regulatory and legislative requirements are met by our firearms licence community. The Compliance & Resolutions Officer will support regulatory compliance and deliver a high-quality service the public deserve and expect.


 


Your contribution will build a culture of high performance which results in a team that is inclusive, innovative, agile, and passionate in meeting TeTari Pūreke outcomes.


This role is based in Kapiti. The role is rotational and to meet the needs of Te Tari Pūreke and your own development you may be rotated within the other teams which form Te Tari Pūreke.


 


 


 


Key Accountabilities:



  • Assess licence applications, permits and endorsements.

  • Ensuring licence holders understand their responsibilities through education and intervention in order to improve compliance.

  • Once trained, understand the application of improvement notices, prescribed conditions, warning letters, temporary suspensions, revocations, and refusals.

  • Providing accurate and information and recommendations.

  • Ensuring compliance activities are completed in a timely, efficient, and effective manner.

  • Maintain accurate, and detailed records.


 


Our business hours are Monday to Friday from 0800 to 1600 hrs.


 


 


 


Working at Te Tari Pūreke in NZ Police

  • We as the firearms regulator, collaborate closely with both the Ministry of Justice and NZ Police. The Ministry of Justice is responsible for policy advice and system oversight and NZ Police is responsible for law enforcement function.

  • Together we seek to continuously improve our approach across the firearms regulatory environment


 


 


 


Special requirements



  • Previous service centre / phone-based experience is desirable, although not essential to application.

  • Applicants need to be New Zealand Permanent Residents
