ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a candidate who is an organized, strategic thinker and is a natural at relationship building. The purpose of the Construction Manager position is to provide project leadership from inception to completion. You will be responsible for budget and timeline management and if you know how to create and share the project vision, achieve results, and are contractually and commercially astute, this may be the role for you.
WHAT YOU”LL NEED TO SUCCEED
- National Certificate in Carpentry
- LBP Carpentry, Site 1 preferred
- Residential Construction Management or Site Forman experience in New Zealand
- First Aid certificate helpful but not essential
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be able to read and interpret plans, specifications and contracts
- Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion
- Help estimate the time and resource required for projects
- Coordinate and direct construction workers and sub-contractors
- Procurement of subcontractors
- Ensure projects are delivered to budgets and all variations are identified, communicated and accepted
- Ensure project construction work meets all requirements including deadlines
- Meet project goals on time and to the required standard
- Maintain an accurate and up to date project plan
- Help to ensure all project documentation is kept up to date
- Manage and mitigate risks
- Responsible for the successful delivery of projects meeting the specified constraints of Time, Cost and Quality.
- Good Excel, Word and Buildertrend capabilities
- Ability to deal with multiple projects at a time
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills as you will be dealing with a wide range of people including internal staff, customers and suppliers
- To effectively and efficiently overview and manage all project phases - project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring & control and closure including project reviews.
- Develop project specific communication plans
- Problem solving – being able to recognise essential elements of a problem and provide creative and workable solutions
- Assist the QS team in preparation of the project budget and variations
- The ability to be self-managing whilst working within a supportive and thriving team environment
- Ensure a consistent and sound commercial approach is applied to all site operations of the project
- A strong customer focus including the ability to identify project solutions that add customer value and deliver return straight to the bottom line
- Ability to negotiate favourable outcomes with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
- Be an organized self -starter with a passion for delivering quality projects
- High level of integrity and professionalism
- Good sense of humour
