Job Description - Content Marketing Specialist

At Vessev, we’re defining a new category of marine transport: hydrofoiling electric vessels that are genuinely better for people and the planet. With strong momentum, global interest, and major milestones ahead, we’re looking for a creative and driven Content Marketing Specialist to help us share our story with the world.

This is a rare opportunity to help shape the presence of a category-defining, Kiwi startup from the earliest stage. There’s so much scope to make this role your own, and we want you to create something you’re insanely proud of.

You’ll be joining a small and tight-knit marketing team that is deeply passionate about what we do, and how we can help set a better world in motion.

The role

This is a hands-on, creative role with real ownership. You’ll be responsible for end-to-end execution: writing, building, and publishing content across owned channels including our website, LinkedIn, email marketing, and more. Because we are a small marketing team, you’ll have the chance to add value wherever you see opportunity, and help grow our brand from the ground up.

Your work will directly contribute to our marketing goals: building brand awareness and hype, generating leads, and supporting the sales journey.

You’ll work closely with the Head of Marketing and wider team to bring ideas to life, delivering a drumbeat of content that helps build a groundswell around Vessev. You’ll also work closely with our awesome agency partners, helping manage relationships, coordinate deliverables, and keep everything moving.

What you’ll be doing

  • Copywriting: Creating high-quality content across multiple formats from technical blogs and white papers to thought leadership and SEO articles.
  • Email marketing & automation: Writing, building, and sending our newsletters and nurture emails– keeping our customers, investors, and followers updated and engaged.
  • Website content management: Jumping into the CMS to update copy, publish new blogs, and ensure our messaging and imagery are always on point.
  • Technical translation: Spending time with our engineers and product team to really understand what we do and turning it into clear, compelling, content.
  • Sales enablement: Developing marketing collateral including one-pagers, pitch decks, and brochures to support our commercial team in global conversations.
  • Project management: Managing timelines and deliverables for your content, ensuring we maintain a consistent publishing schedule.
  • Agency coordination: Working with our SEO and PR partners to ensure the content you produce is optimised and distributed effectively.

About you

You don’t need to be an expert in marine, hydrofoiling, or electric transport. What matters most is that you’re intelligent, willing to muck in, and care about doing meaningful work.

You’re flexible, adaptable, and will thrive in a startup environment where things are constantly evolving. You take pride in making things happen, fast – whether it’s crafting an impactful LinkedIn post, briefing an agency, or building an engaging newsletter. You’re a strong communicator, a fast learner, and someone who likes to bring ideas to the table.

Experience across both B2B and B2C is helpful, but at the end of the day, we believe all marketing is B2H: business to human. If you can communicate clearly and connect with people, that’s what matters.

We’re looking for someone with

  • 2+ years’ experience in a content-focused marketing role.
  • Exceptional writing skills with the ability to adapt your tone for different audiences
  • Experience working with CMS tools and email marketing platforms (like HubSpot, Wordpress, and Mailchimp) to build and publish your work.
  • A keenness and ability to understand technical information and how our technology works.
  • A strong work ethic and a can-do attitude. We all roll up our sleeves and no job is too big or small.
  • Strong organisational skills. You can spin multiple plates and stay on top of your own deadlines.
  • A collaborative mindset and a desire to do great work together.
  • A passion for meaningful and future-focused work.

Bonus experience

  • SEO and GEO experience.
  • An eye for design and experience with Canva and/or Figma.
  • Experience in, or curiosity about, the technology or marine industry.

About us

We’re here to set a better world in motion – cleaner air, better commutes, and deeper connections with nature and each other. Our hydrofoiling electric vessels use up to 90% less energy than traditional boats, unlocking entirely new opportunities.

We’re backed by top-tier investors including Blackbird Ventures, and our team includes talent from the America’s Cup, Rocketlab, Halter, Apple, and leading climate startups. But titles don’t matter here – what matters is how we show up: with purpose, humility, and a restless optimism for what’s possible.

We’re office-first but not office-only. We believe in building together, in person, where the real magic happens. That said, we trust our team to do what’s right and we know life isn’t one-size-fits-all.

Why our people love Vessev

  • We’re building something different – from how we move on the water to the kind of team and workplace we’re creating.
  • The chance to work on technology that can drive real, lasting impact in the world.
  • A team of exceptional and collaborative humans.
  • 20 weeks fully paid parental leave for primary caregivers, and 4 weeks for secondary (conditions apply).
  • Competitive salaries that reflect the value of the work.
  • Being on the water is part of our job – from trips on our vessels to our offices that border the Tamaki River.
  • And if the water’s where you want to be, you’ll be in good company. You’ll find no shortage of boaters, beach goers, sailors, foilers, surfers, and kiteboarders here.

Apply now

To apply, please send us your CV and a short cover letter that gives us a sense of who you are and why this role feels like the right fit.

Research shows that women and other under-represented groups often only apply when they meet every requirement, even though they could be an excellent fit. If you see yourself doing great work here but don’t tick every box, we’d still love to hear from you. We’re building a team where everyone has the chance to do their best work.
