About us

Future Leaders Academy delivers leadership training with our Student and Emerging Leaders Programme across the Pacific Islands. We take senior high school student leaders, and young professionals from across New Zealand and Australia to multiple Pacific Nations, where we're joined by local student  and emerging leaders. Each course has 40-52 participants. The week-long courses deliver team leadership experiential training including cultural connection. Courses planned for 2024/25 include; Cook Islands, Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Vanuatu, Hawaii. Courses are delivered during the NZ/Aus school holidays, and throughout the year. We also work alongside key partners in New Zealand supporting functional leadership training in the youth and corporate space.

What we need

We are looking for a small pool of suitable (casual contract) course managers to join our team to lead the delivery of each leadership course, including; preparation, and all aspects of programme delivery. This role will see you choosing 2-3 of our eight different courses each year. You will be supported by our Programme Manager, and you will lead a team of 6-7 staff on each course. You will build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in each Pacific nation, and contribute to course design. You could be based anywhere in NZ, as you will join us for each international course.

Experience and abilities

Essential

• Course manager experience, large groups (international desirable).
• Available for 2-3 week-long international courses per year.
• Sound understanding of Pasifika cultures.
• Experience as a team leader, managing 4-8 staff.
• Youth/young professional development experience.
• Strong community, and stakeholder engagement.
• Advanced Health and Safety experience.
• Strong knowledge of functional leadership frameworks and principles.

Key tasks & responsibilities

• Leading the programme delivery staff team for each course.
• Overall responsibility for delivery of each programme, including student participants.
• Continuous programme development.
• Supporting brand awareness and marketing.
• Stakeholder engagement.
• Overseeing compliance, health and safety.
