Customer Manager – Wholesale Banking

Mō te tūranga | About the Role
We are looking for a commercially driven and customer‑focused Customer Manager – Wholesale Banking to join our Transactional Banking team within Institutional and Business Banking (IBB). We are looking for a Customer Manager who builds relationships that genuinely matter to wholesale clients, and who understands that strong advocacy, commercial outcomes and customer base growth reinforce each other.
You will own a portfolio of wholesale clients and be accountable for revenue growth, pricing discipline, product utilisation and client retention. A key objective is to grow our customer base by identifying and converting new opportunities. You will work closely with Relationship Managers and customer product management to shape solutions that add real value and strengthen long term partnerships.
Key responsibilities include:
building deep relationships with senior financial and operational stakeholders
taking ownership of portfolio outcomes and overall customer base growth
delivering consistently strong experiences that lift customer advocacy.
lead pricing conversations and commercial negotiations whilst converting new opportunities and protect existing relationships
provide credible guidance across cash management, payments, liquidity and digital solutions
champion digital onboarding and self-service to improve efficiency whilst maintaining high risk and operational standards

We’re looking for someone with strong commercial acumen, exceptional negotiation and influencing skills, and a customer‑centric mindset. You will bring resilience, professionalism, and the ability to balance outstanding service delivery with achieving business growth.
5+ years’ banking experience, ideally with institutional or business clients.
A relationship driven approach and proven commercial judgement
Experience in transactional banking, cash management, payments or a related product area
Strong negotiation and financial analysis capability
Confidence engaging senior client decision makers
A proactive, accountable style with a focus on customer and portfolio growth
