THE OPPORTUNITY
Join our team as a Dairy Calf General and play an important part in our Dairy Beef programme during the busy calving season. This fixed-term role runs through until the end of December 2026 and offers a great opportunity to work hands-on with animals in a supportive farm environment.
Your days will be varied and active, working alongside the farm team to tag, scan, weigh and move newborn calves. You’ll spend time out on farm collecting calves, helping process them through the yards, and making sure animal welfare standards are always well cared for.
This is a practical role where no two days are the same. It’s a great fit for someone who enjoys being outdoors, working with animals, and being part of a close-knit team during one of the busiest and most rewarding times of the farming year.
ABOUT US
Pāmu Landcorp Farming Limited is a State-Owned Enterprise with over 110 farms across New Zealand. Our purpose is to lead the delivery of innovative and sustainable agriculture solutions for future generations.
THE FARM
Located only 15 minutes from central Taupo, Exeter Calf Rearing aims to rear 2,400 calves this autumn and 3,600 in Spring.
Exeter is 130 effective ha with brand new infrastructure. Our purpose-built shed can hold up to 660 calves at a time. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to make large scale calf rearing enjoyable and efficient for staff.
ABOUT YOU
If you enjoy working outdoors and being active throughout the day, and you are omfortable working with animals and handling calves gently and safely, this role could be for you. It can be physically demanding so stamina and fitness are essential. You must be able to lift 20kg.
What you need:
An exceptional attitude to health and safety and animal welfare
A good eye for detail and a willingness to learn
The ability to work unsupervised
Experience on farm or with calves is helpful, but not essential — we’re happy to train someone with the right attitude.
A full and current driver licence
