The Role 

We’re looking for a Data Architect/Engineer to design, build, and maintain Engender’s data infrastructure. In this role, you’ll create scalable and secure data architectures that power research, operations, and decision-making across the organisation. Working closely with scientists, engineers, and business teams, you’ll ensure Engender’s data is accurate, accessible, and ready to drive insight. 

What You’ll Do 

• Design and implement scalable data models, architectures, and pipelines. 

• Build and maintain data warehouses, lakes, and integration tools. 

• Develop and optimise ETL/ELT processes for ingestion, transformation, and loading. 

• Collaborate with analysts, scientists, and business teams to support data-driven decision-making. 

• Ensure data security, compliance, and governance standards are met. 

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise data pipelines and infrastructure. 

• Stay ahead of emerging trends and tools in data management and analytics. 

• Document standards, architecture, and processes for governance and knowledge sharing. 

About You 

You’re a technical problem-solver who thrives on building robust, scalable data systems. You enjoy working across disciplines and can translate complex technical ideas into clear solutions that deliver real-world impact. 

• Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise data architectures. 

• Strong technical skills with SQL, Python, Spark, Hadoop, or similar tools. 

• Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud). 

• Knowledge of governance, data security, and compliance requirements. 

• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and optimisation skills. 

• Excellent communication skills, able to bridge technical and non-technical teams. 

• Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders on data projects.
