We're currently seeking a Data Migration Specialist – Functional Analyst to join our Data Migration team. In this pivotal role, you’ll have the opportunity to shape robust data migration strategies, join a skilled and dedicated team, and help drive major transformation initiatives for our clients.
About the Role:
As a Data Migration Specialist – Functional Analyst, you will work with the team on the design, development, and execution of complex migration projects that power real business transformation. Reporting directly to the Director of Data Migration, you will be responsible for driving the source to target data mapping and rules definition using a combination of functional analysis, data analysis and customer discussions.
You will be responsible for understanding both the source and target solutions and working with other teams to ensure the target solution will function as required on migrated data.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Gaining and understanding the source system and data model and target solution and data model
Defining and maintaining data migration mapping and rules documentation
Investigation of source data anomalies discovered during ETL develop and managing resolution of data quality issues
Customer meeting facilitation and decision log management
Compiling, assigning, communicating and managing the list of pre and post go-live tasks
Testing data migrated per mapping and rules is fit-for-purpose on the target solution and where migrated data cannot be migrated to be fit-for-purpose, work with development team consultants and developers to identify possible changes to target solution
Managing the triaging and assignment of customer testing questions and bugs
What You’ll Bring:
3–5 years’ experience in data migration and functional analysis roles, including 2–4 years in a hands-on data migration analyst or developer role
Understanding of ETL and other data migration processes
Strong experience in data modelling
Experience in SQL (preferably Postgres) in writing moderately complex SQL queries to analyse the source data
Understanding of Mongo (or other noSql/docDB) or other json structures
Good understanding of acceptance testing processes
A solid understanding of data security, data validation, and quality assurance best practices
Proven stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to communicate at both a functional and technical level
Prior experience working in a vendor organisation
Ideally prior experience within a registry industry
Technical Skills – Must-Have:
Strong knowledge of relational databases and data modelling
Strong knowledge in data mapping and business rule definition
Understanding of xml and json
Technical skills which will be beneficial to the role:
Hands-on experience with ETL tools like Talend or Apache Hop
Proficient in source control systems (e.g., GIT, Bitbucket)
Solid programming skills in Java, Groovy, C#, or Python
Experience with document databases, such as MongoDB
