We are seeking an experienced Department Manager to oversee our contract on the Chatham Islands. You will lead a close-knit team of 14, including Mechanics, Operators, and Waste Minimisation crews. In this position, you will be responsible for contract and financial management, pricing and tendering, and fostering a culture that prioritises people and safety. This unique role comes with its own set of challenges and rewards, thanks to the Island’s distinctive location. You will also be involved in managing logistics to ensure smooth operations.

  • Manage resource allocation and scheduling to optimise productivity and minimise downtime
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and the local community
  • Identify and mitigate risks, including environmental and operational hazards
  • Report regularly on project progress, financial status, and compliance to senior management
  • Drive continuous improvement in operational processes and outcomes

The ideal candidate will live on Chatham Island or be willing to relocate permanently, embracing the island lifestyle and close-knit community. The Chatham Islands is known for its outdoors and kai moana with fishing being some of the best in the world.

For candidates considering relocation we are offering a comprehensive relocation package which includes accommodation, return flights to the mainland and company vehicle.
