Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington, situated at the heart of Aotearoa's creative, scientific, and political capital, is renowned for its high-quality research and exceptional teaching. We are seeking an outstanding leader to join our Senior Leadership Team as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic).

You will provide strategic leadership for the University's learning and teaching portfolio spanning the Academic Office, the Library, and the Centre for Academic Development, while helping lead the University as a whole.

Key to the role will be driving excellence in teaching and curriculum, overseeing academic quality, strengthening our postgraduate programme, and working alongside colleagues to advance the interests of Māori and Pasifika students and embed Mātauranga Māori in the curriculum.

You will bring:

  • A PhD or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
  • A strong record in university teaching, research, and academic leadership.
  • Extensive experience in academic planning, policy, and quality assurance.
  • Senior leadership experience in a large, complex organisation, including leading change.
  • Cultural competency and genuine commitment to be an effective Te Tiriti o Waitangi partner.
