Korora is a primarily web team responsible for the BNZ website. We are part of the Digital Channels domain and heavily involved on the tech interactions with our customers.

We sat down with the People Leader (who you would report to) and they told us the following about the role:  

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in Auckland. This is a hybrid position with three days in the office and two days where you can work flexibly.  

What are 5 day to day tasks the person in this role will complete?  

As a developer in Korora, you will be responsible for:  

• Developing new code in our web applications.  

• Reviewing code and work of colleagues in the team.  

• Participate in planning meetings.  

• Help review design and strategy of our web applications.  

• Contribute to the bank standards, security and processes.  

What projects / work will the candidate be working on now and into the next year?  

We are working on some exciting features for the main BNZ website and the current project is an app called Appointment Booking, which allows customers to book online appointments with customer service representatives without having to call or go in-person to a branch.  

What is the most exciting thing about this opportunity?  

You will have the opportunity to work on projects that affects the life of millions of people in a positive way and be part of a modern department at the bank. We are doing work on current technology, including modernisation of our applications and Artificial Intelligence use. 

 What is the most challenging thing about this opportunity?  

As we have millions of users in our applications, there’s a lot of things to consider; like performance, accessibility, reliability, etc. This is a great opportunity to upskill in the development of heavily used applications.  

What technical skills and experience are  for this role?  

• Practical experience in development and maintenance of technology applications.   

• Strong understanding of web development principles.   

• Proven experience with JavaScript and React.   

• Solid experience in Java and the Spring Boot framework.  

• Good knowledge of database technologies and cloud architecture.   

• Proven ability to communicate ideas and designs clearly and concisely.
