Job purpose: 

The Digital Communications Coordinator sits in the Communications, Media, and Advocacy Team which exists to work with and alongside partners and communities, both here and in other countries, to actively facilitate, support, create and inspire collective action to nurture systems that foster climate and gender justice.

The Digital Communications Coordinator is responsible for OAo’s digital communications, including social media and website management, graphic design, and brand stewardship.  The Digital Communications Coordinator works closely with the Head of Communications, Media, and Advocacy and key staff across the organisation to ensure OAo’s digital communications activities motivate existing supporters and the public to actively engage with Oxfam Aotearoa. This role may require travel from time to time within New Zealand and overseas to fulfil the requirements.


COMPETENCIES

Knowledge, skills and experience: 

  • At least two years’ experience in a communications or digital role preferred.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification e.g. in communications, design, journalism, marketing or equivalent industry experience.
  • Demonstrated success in creating original, high-quality social media content.
  • Demonstrated ability in designing content for digital communications channels.
  • Demonstrated success working on multi-channel digital marketing campaigns with a strong understanding of building a digital community.
  • Demonstrated success in understanding customer, consumer and/or campaigner behaviour.
  • Working knowledge of Meta ad campaigns, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and Google Analytics.
  • Strong social media experience including analysing metrics and reporting back on best practice, driving up engagement and continually seeking to improve.
  • Experience using Wordpress, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro), and Microsoft Office applications. Experience with eDM dispatch platforms (such as Campaign Monitor or Sendgrid) and marketing software (such as Marketing Cloud) would be an advantage.
  • Experience in digital fundraising or direct marketing within the not-for-profit sector would be an advantage.
  • An understanding of branding and application of brand identity.
  • An active interest in social justice and international development issues and knowledge of the activities that Oxfam is engaged in.
  • Excellent written communication skills including the ability to produce succinct and inspiring copy and communicate complex ideas to different audiences.
  • Ability to think strategically and analytically.
