Job Description - Digital Marketing Content Creator

About the Organisation

Skills Update Training and Education Group is proudly one of New Zealand's larger private training establishments. We have been operating in the tertiary education sector around the country since 1991 and offer a selection of courses primarily focusing on trades for kiwis. We are funded by the Tertiary Education Commission and are a NZQA Accredited Category One Provider.

We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Digital Content Creator to join the Skills Update marketing team. You will be responsible for producing and publishing various types of digital content and collateral promoting both our Education and Social Service programmes. You will work closely and collaborate with our Campus and Social Service teams to create engaging and informative content, including blog posts, socials media posts, videos, and campaigns, promoting our programmes and sharing our and our student journey stories. Ideally you will have a strong understanding of digital marketing, as well as excellent writing and editing skills. Your experience with content management systems and social media platforms will set you aside from other candidates. Key Responsibilities:

Digital marketing strategy

• Support the planning, developing, and organising of organic social media campaigns to support enrolment objectives.

• Assist the production of digital campaigns involving specialised activities, such as artwork, copywriting media scripting as per targets and deadlines.

• Interpreting and predicting current and future consumer digital media trends.

• Make sure Skills Update Website content and visuals, as well as Facebook / Instagram / LinkedIn accounts are kept up to date through a regular schedule of online activities.

Content creation and development

• Identify and create content from current organisational events to highlight the organisation’s involvements.

• Utilise and illustrate success using student success stories and team member features.

• Ensure the creation of engaging and informative digital information content such as live streams, videos and other content that can be shared.

• Ensure that the organisations services are promoted through content creation.

• Be able to analyse audience trends and make recommendations for the development and enhancement of the organisation’s social media activities.

Photography

• Ensure that all images obtained and captured using photography meets the purpose and values of the organisation and is utilised effectively.

• Ensure the quality of the photo library is maintained, and that it’s relevant and current for ongoing promotional activities.

• Be able to connect on a deeper level with target audience, students and tutors at work.

• Capture and record digital evidence of the Skills Update/QES stories, by attending campus and community events that show case our uniqueness.

Graphic Design

• Study design briefs and determine requirements.

• Collaborate, brainstorm, and strategise with multiple teams on a wide range of materials that may include ad designs, presentations, programme collateral, signage, internal communications, newsletters, and marketing materials.

• Translate strategic direction and create designs within the established brand guidelines.

Website and collateral

• Design and organise the print of promotional collateral.

• Ensure all campuses are well stocked with up-to-date promotional collateral.

• Ensure teams attending industry/community events (e.g. expo’s) have sufficient and up to date promotional materials.

• Research and interview students, industry professionals and community experts for website insights and news content.

• Conduct keyword research and use SEO guidelines to optimise content.

• Identify customer needs and recommend new topics.

• Update website as needed.

 

Must have:

  • Proven work experience as a digital content creator or similar role
  • Experience with content management systems 
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or similar software · Experience with video editing software
  • Understanding of visual design principles and best practice 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills 
  • Experience researching and promoting products and services online via blogs, social media and website content
  •  Passion for creating engaging and innovative digital content

 

Nice to have:

  • Sound working knowledge of Private Training Establishments
  • Sound understanding of Te Tiriti Principles 
  • Culturally fluent with strong connections to key markets (Māori, Pacific, Asian Market) 
  • Diploma or Degree in marketing, journalism, or a related field
