Job Description - Digital Technology Manager

Title: Digital Technology Manager

Location: Dunedin or Invercargill

FTE: 1

At WellSouth, we are dedicated to promoting health equity, ensuring everyone has access to the highest quality of care and enabling better health outcomes for people in the Southern region.

We are seeking a Digital Technology Manager to provide clear, practical leadership across WellSouth’s digital environment. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role is responsible for setting direction, overseeing delivery, and ensuring digital technology supports organisational priorities in a highly regulated health setting.

You will work closely with senior leaders, clinical and operational teams, and external partners to ensure our digital platforms, systems, and services are secure, reliable, and aligned with the organisation's operating model.

Position Purpose:

This is a core leadership role with responsibility for shaping and delivering WellSouth’s digital technology roadmap. The role combines strategic oversight with hands-on leadership, covering digital infrastructure, cloud platforms, digital workplace tools, cyber security practices, vendor relationships, and the delivery of digital projects that support service delivery and organisational performance.

A key focus of the role is ensuring WellSouth’s digital environment is fit for purpose in a health context. This includes maintaining strong information security and privacy practices, supporting data-driven decision making, and ensuring digital solutions are user-centred and practical for staff, providers, and partners.

What are we looking for:

We are looking for someone with significant experience in digital or technology leadership, ideally in health, the public sector, or another complex, regulated environment. You will bring strong strategic thinking alongside proven delivery capability, with the confidence to engage at senior levels and the ability to explain technical matters clearly to non-technical audiences.

WellSouth is committed to equity, whānau-centred care, and its obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi. This role requires cultural awareness and a genuine commitment to working in ways that improve outcomes for Māori and the diverse communities we serve.

We offer:

  • A supportive work environment where you will make a real impact on the lives of our diverse communities.

  • Opportunities for personal and professional growth.

  • A commitment to upholding the principles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

  • To support the health and wellbeing of our employees, we offer a competitive salary, flu vaccinations, an annual wellness voucher and a day off on your birthday.

  • Sick leave entitlement of 5 days will be available from the commencement of employment, and another 5 days at 6 months of employment. 10 days' entitlement will be available at 12 months of service thereafter.

  • In-house equity training, Te Reo training and associated professional development

  • We are a Rainbow Tick certified workplace, the first PHO in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Our Values - Tō Mātou Uara

  • He mana tō te whānau – Whānau Centred

  • Tōkeke - Equitable

  • Manawa whakaute - Respectful

  • Pono – Transparent

Applications will be reviewed as they are received.

Applications must include a CV, and a cover letter.
