Disability Support Worker

Ranfurly Care Society Inc has been the centre for a range of different services for people with intellectual disabilities since it was incorporated by family members in 1991. Ranfurly Care operates Residential and Activity Day Centre Services.

Ranfurly Care Society promotes the spiritual, physical, and intellectual well-being of people with an intellectual disability. Ranfurly Care believes in offering a caring environment which encourages residents and students to lead lives which are fulfilling and purposeful. The aim is to build self-esteem through education and life skills training, leading to the development of independence and self-worth.

Ranfurly Management recognizes that maintaining a team of skilled and well-trained staff is essential in ensuring the quality of the programmes offered.

About the role:

We are looking for a vibrant , confident , motivated carers who lead with initiative to support people with an Intellectual Disability. 

About you:

  • Experience in a support worker setting preferably within the disability sector.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication and influencing skills.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and deal with challenging situations.
  • Must be flexible with time and changing shifts in a 24/7 environment. 
  • Team player in a close-knit office environment. Must be collaborative and engaged.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, and adaptability to change.
  • Must be able to confidently drive others in a range of different vehicles including vans on a Full Clean NZ driving License.
  • Must be willing to get regular police checks, first aid certification and any other relevant compliance and training requirements.

Education:

  • At least Level 2 Certificate in Health Care related course. 

Experience:

  • Disability/ Allied health/ Health/ Community sector: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • NZ Full Clean driving license (Preferred)
