Early Childhood Transport Service Coordinator – Community Engagement Initiative - 30 Hours per week

 Job Overview

• Counties Manukau Kindergarten Association provides a pick-up and drop-off service for diverse communities within South Auckland.


• The key responsibility of this position is to safely transport children to and from their home environments and designated Kindergartens/Early Learning centres.

• It is a position that is responsive to individual community needs and hard to reach whanau.


• It is a part-time position that fits in with pick-up and drop-off times of the kindergarten/early learning centre opening and closing hours working approximately 30 hours per week, 6 hours per day between the hours of 7.30am - 5.30pm - Monday to Friday. It will require a split shift with a gap between the morning and afternoon shifts.  Please note that this position requires a very early morning start with a morning shift of approximately 2 hours to accommodate a morning van run. There is a gap in the middle of the day where you are not required. The service restarts in the afternoon to accommodate an afternoon van run at approximately 2pm. From time to time there will be a requirement to attend meetings or Operations Manager requests during the day.

This position requires:

• A full, clean driver's license is essential


• A current first aid certificate


• A Police Vetting result that meets the conditions of the Children's Act and the Early Childhood Regulations


• An expectation will be that the successful person will complete a Defensive Driving Course

The position requires the employee to:

• Fulfil and comply with all relevant CMKA Policies and Procedures


• Be a safety conscious, reliable and responsible driver


• Communicate with young children in a positive and caring manner


• Engage in positive communication with the parents and whanau of the children enrolled in the service


• Engage in positive communication with the staff at the kindergarten/early learning centre


• Follow the reasonable direction of the Operations Manager


• Have a good command of the written and oral English language


• Ensure that all required documentation is completed efficiently


• Has the ability to work with a diverse range of people


• Is calm under pressure and able to work through difficult situations


• Meet deadlines in a timely manner and has good time-keeping abilities


• Understands and comply’ s with the risk management requirements and regulations associated with transporting young children

Applicants will be required to undergo Police Vetting and cannot be appointed until such time as a successful result has been received by Counties Manukau Kindergarten Association.

A clean driving record and New Zealand Experience is essential!  The successful applicant will need to demonstrate high road safety standards, be an excellent communicator and work with consistent reliability and responsibility with children, teachers, and whanau within diverse communities.

All applicants must reside in New Zealand and be eligible to work in New Zealand. Applicants will undergo a full Safety Check process.
