This is a unique opportunity to join a company that prioritises its people and patients, bringing hope to many.

About the role

The main purpose of this role is to provide clinical embryology services for the diagnosis, treatment, and support of patients undergoing investigation and treatment for infertility. This position requires strong empathy with patients, effective communication skills, and an understanding of the patient's pathway through investigation and treatment. You will be involved in both embryology lab work and patient interactions.

In the patient-facing capacity, you will provide information to patients about laboratory aspects of investigation and treatment (e.g., embryo quality, freezing/thawing decisions), considering their needs, level of understanding, language, culture, and personal circumstances. In the lab, you will work as part of a small team and be responsible for a wide range of ART techniques (outlined below).

About you

  • A BSc degree or higher in biological science, clinical laboratory science, medical technology, or clinical embryology.
  • At least three years of experience as an embryologist or practical experience with relevant laboratory techniques.
  • Registered Clinical Embryologist under the HPCA Act or eligible to be registered within a year.
  • Ideally experienced with most of the following methods and protocols:
    • Setting up culture media.
    • Collection of oocytes.
    • Sperm isolation from testicular tissue, sperm preparations, and semen analysis.
    • In vitro fertilisation, intracytoplasmic sperm injection, intrauterine insemination.
    • Culture and transfer of embryos.
    • Assisted hatching of embryos.
    • Cryopreservation and thawing of gametes and embryos.
    • PCT test.
    • Antibody tests.
    • Shipping of frozen assets.

To be considered for the Team Lead role, prior leadership experience is required.

Benefits

  • Make a real difference in people's lives by helping them in one of the most significant experiences of their lives.
  • Work in a multidisciplinary team, including scientists, doctors, nurses, and counsellors.
  • Join an inclusive and equitable workplace with a collaborative and supportive culture.
  • 5 weeks annual leave (including a two-week slowdown period over Christmas).
  • An extra day off for your birthday.
  • Free car parking.
  • A discretionary bonus scheme.

Applications are open to NZ and overseas candidates. A relocation package will be considered for the right candidate.

This is a permanent, 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday role, with an additional rotating roster of weekend work (approximately 8 hours across the weekend every 3-4 weeks). The salary range for the Embryologist role is $40 – $50.50 NZD/hour, and for the Embryologist Team Lead, the range is $53 - $56 NZD/hour.

Due to the fact the clinic treats vulnerable patients who are high risk for COVID-19 (i.e. pregnant women and their babies, and people undertaking cancer treatment), there is the continued requirement for all our employees to have up-to date COVID vaccinations.
