We are in search of a committed and approachable Engineering Designer to work in our engineering team designing projects for land development.  You will come with working knowledge of ArcGIS, on which our software is based, and we will teach you engineering.  This presents an outstanding chance to play a pivotal role in a rapidly expanding company with a large pipeline and collaborating with an exceptional team involved in a wide range of land development projects. The position provides a platform to showcase your ArcGIS skills, an opportunity to improve our systems, and develop your knowledge of the land development process within a supportive setting, where you will engage with essential project collaborators and fellow consultants.

Located in the vibrant central business district of Auckland, Civix Limited is a reputable medium-sized consultancy specializing in planning, engineering, and surveying. Committed to the welfare of its staff, Civix offers competitive salaries surpassing industry standards and cultivates a pleasant, friendly, and positive workplace environment. This is further enhanced by regular social gatherings and outings, contributing to a collaborative and enjoyable atmosphere.

 Why are we different:

  • Young Entrepreneurial team.
  • Comprehensive services in surveying, planning, and engineering under one roof.
  • Privately owned and proudly Kiwi business.
  • Collaborate directly with business owners and decision-makers.
  • Acknowledged as a 'leading firm' within our size category.
  • Competitive pay structure exceeding industry standards.
  • Grounded in a solid strategy, strategic positioning, exceptional service, a strong brand reputation, and a highly skilled staff.

What will your day look like:

As an Engineering Designer, you'll be joining our experienced team and have a chance to work hands-on with our clients.  The primary deliverables for this role will involve generating infrastructure reports and drawings for land development projects, with the added opportunity to conduct site inspections as your designs progress to construction. Our designs are mostly carried out using ArcGIS and a custom GIS plugin where you will be able to use your skills in GIS to support the engineering team and contribute to continuous improvement of the design software.  Comprehensive training will be provided to ensure you are well-equipped for the responsibilities of the position. In this role, you will be tasked with offering innovative solutions and delivering excellent service to a broad spectrum of clients, including those in the public sector, architects, planners, developers, builders, and individuals. Your role will be pivotal, and we place trust in your ability to deliver results.

What you will be valued for:

Passion – We love people who bring passion to work every day. We love what that means for their teammates, the business and ultimately the client. We get that it’s hard to be passionate every day, but we will really value people who bring that positive passionate mindset into our space.

Team player – No one is an island, and we all need a hand from time to time. We really appreciate those who go out of their way to help their colleagues to get the work done. We are a team and that is how we like it. If you are an island, this role may not be for you.

Hardworking – Ask anyone who works here; we work hard. We are a small team, and we rely on each other a lot. There are no passengers at Civix.

Client Focused - We put our clients first and go out of our way for them. Without them none of us would be here. Sure, it means you need to put in the effort for them, but we believe we get it back 10-fold in loyalty and support.

Organised - There is a lot to get done if you are going to achieve greatness; it helps if you seize the opportunities to get things done. Being organised is all about planning for the opportunities and capitalizing on them when they present themselves. It is about follow-through, initiative and making sure things are done to the standard our clients expect.

Positive, can-do attitude - We love and value those people who say, “sure thing, let me give that a go” and then do it. We love the buzz that attitude this brings, and you will always be appreciated for it, even if you don’t succeed. We would far rather you gave it a crack, with an upbeat approach, than sit back and decide it is in the too hard basket.

If this advertisement has sparked your interest and you envision a lasting working relationship, we invite you to submit your resume and a cover letter. Your cover letter should provide insights into who you are, along with reasons why you believe you would be an ideal fit for our team. We're eager to learn more about you and explore the potential for a fruitful collaboration.

We will provide all the necessary training for this role, but the candidate must have experience with ArcGIS, hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geography, GI Science or Environmental Science or a similar degree obtained in the past 3 years and be legally allowed to work in New Zealand.
