Job Description - Environmental Advisor

About the Opportunity Based at our Kapuni site, this pivotal position is an integral part of the environmental team. Reporting to the Environmental Manager, you will maintain key aspects of the site Environmental Management System (EMS), ISO14001 standards and get involved in internal and external audits, environmental risk identification and mitigation, compliance monitoring & reporting, corrective actions, and providing technical support on environmental control systems. Other key responsibilities will also include: Review of compliance obligations, aspects, and other EMS register.
Investigate and document environmental non-compliance and ensure timely completion of corrective and preventative actions.
Monitor resource consent compliance and prepare compliance reports.
Assist in the review of Kapuni’s EMS, Environmental Operations Manual, Management Plans, and departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
Assist in the daily operation of the site’s stormwater, wastewater, and other environmental control systems.
Assist in the delivery of environmental awareness training, and inductions.
Undertake environmental improvements and sustainability initiatives (landfill waste reduction, energy efficiency & water conservation).
Provide support and cover to the Environmental Manager. About You You will be a resilient and passionate person with strong technical skills and a conceptual mindset. Although an experienced individual holding a tertiary qualification in Environmental Science or similar qualification is ideal, we also are interested in individuals who have just started their career and are passionate about growing and learning as this role is amongst an ever-changing environment therefore, being adaptable and willing to learn is a huge bonus. In addition, this is a great opportunity to develop and extend your environmental management skillset. The successful candidate will ideally have: Exposure to environmental compliance and management systems (with reference to ISO 14001)
A genuine commitment and passion for environmental sustainability
Experience in Excel and data analysis with a natural flair for proactive problem-solving
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
