  • We are experienced in all types of airborne surveillance, providing a fast, reliable and professional support solution. Our aircraft are equipped with sophisticated strategic and tactical aerial surveillance equipment, including night vision device (NVD) capability, EO / IR camera systems


 


 


About the role


 


Due to expansion of our services, an opportunity currently exists for a motivated individual to join our Aviation & Critical Services team as Surveillance Mission Coordinators (SMC) on a full-time basis, supporting our operations in Horn Island by contributing to civil maritime security undertaking aerial surveillance of Australia’s vast maritime domain and conducting operational response and logistics missions in the Torres Strait.  This is an equal time touring position, on a 15 day on / 13 day off touring roster.


 


 


As part of this role you will:


 



  • Conduct safe flight operations complying with CASA, contractual and company policies and procedures;

  • Report promptly on all operations and maintenance deficiencies;

  • Complete pre-flight and post-flight documentation;

  • Conduct helicopter surveillance, response, logistics & Search and Rescue operations;

  • Provide accurate visual observation and information to the Pilot of flight relevant data including personnel movements and flight safety related issues;

  • Apply strong written communication skills to compile accurate and timely mission reports, suitable for operational review and evidence requirements;

  • Maintain continuous and immediate readiness of operational role equipment;

  • Employ and install role equipment;

  • Operate electronic mission equipment and associated equipment IAW Babcock Flight Operations Exposition;

  • Perform duties using Night Vision Imaging Systems (NVIS);

  • Conduct aircraft flight preparation, mission planning, mission briefing and post-flight aircraft husbandry;

  • Ensure security and safe configuration of cabin and equipment; and

  • Conduct passenger safety briefings and ensure the security and safety of clients during logistical and response taskings;

  • Other tasks as designated by the Senior Base Aircrew Officer or Chief Aircrew Officer.


 


 


About You


 


Essential requirements:


 



  • Must be an Australian Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain an AGSVA Baseline security clearance

  • Australian Citizenship and passport

  • Current CASA Class II Medical Certificate

  • Able to obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card

  • Strong computer literacy skills

  • Proven ability to work in a team

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to operate collaboratively and under pressure in a dynamic operational environment

  • Problem solving skills including the ability to troubleshoot mission systems and equipment faults and respond to in-flight operational challenges

  • Maintain a mindset of operational security and protect sensitive information.


 


 


Desirable requirements:


 



  • NVIS experience

  • Marine Radio Operator Licence



  • Aircraft Radiotelephone Operator Certificate of Proficiency (AROC)

  • Previous rotary maritime surveillance experience

  • Current Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET) certification, including Emergency Breathing System (EBS) endorsement or ability to obtain
